CHARLESTON, WV -

Food, music, entertainment, and educational vendors kicked off the United Way Fundraising Day at the State Capitol. Capitol employees and Charleston residents joined in the fun. Festivities included a cake walk, book sale, art auction, and much more. All proceeds benefit the United Way of Central West Virginia.

Morgan King is a student at Capital High School. She spent the afternoon volunteering at the event. She says, "I believe it's a worthy cause because it helps out the community. That's the most important thing here. You have to support your community and the locals". United Way's mission is to improve lives by building stronger communities. Money raised today will support programs such as providing students in need with school supplies and lunches.

It's never too late to help out! United Way has a number of ways you can make a difference through volunteering, donating, or simply by helping to spread the message.
