Traffic restricted in Charleston, WV during Rod Run and Doo Wop car show

In preparation for the Rod Run and Doo Wop car show, sections of Kanawha Boulevard will be closed beginning at 6 p.m. today.  The boulevard between Leon Sullivan Way on the east end of Charleston to Ohio Avenue on the west side will have closures.  

One westbound lane on the boulevard will stay open between Leon Sullivan Way and Capitol Street.  Also a westbound lane will be open between Clendenin Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.   

Traffic will also be restricted on Laidley and Summers streets between Virginia Street and Kanawha Boulevard, parking on those streets will be for event-related vehicles.

According to the officials with the city of Charleston, traffic will also be affected by a fireworks show on Sept. 5.  Parts of the South Side Bridge will close for crews to prepare the fireworks show starting at 10 a.m.  The bridge will close completely at 5 p.m.  MacCorkle Avenue will close from Porter Road to U.S. 119 starting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 5.  All the streets will remain closed until the cleanup process for the fireworks is completed.
