CHARLESTON, WV -

Martindale-Hubbell has awarded the law firm of Hardy Pence its AV Preeminent rating — the highest possible — in both legal ability and ethical standards.

In addition, firm member David J. Hardy has been named as a "Best Lawyer in America" in the field of energy law for the fifth consecutive year.

Firm member Christopher D. Pence and associate Eric L. Silkwood also were recently designated as "2013 Rising Stars" by Super Lawyers.  Firm member Scott Wickline has again earned the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating designation.

The firm also recently hired as associates James P. McHugh, a former Jackson County prosecutor, and Christopher M. Settles, a former law clerk in the 25th and 30th Judicial Circuits.

The firm also promoted Courtney D. Shamblin to legal assistant.
