Sue Bonham didn't waste any time hugging four firefighters from the Sissonville Volunteer Department Monday.
CHARLESTON, WV -
According to a release from Kentucky State Troopers, a man was arrested and charged with numerous felonies Wednesday in Clark County.
It happened just before 11 a.m. Troopers noticed a vehicle traveling in excess of 90 mph headed westbound on Interstate 64 in Bath County. They attempted to stop the vehicle, according to the release.
Willie Burnett IV, 20 of Lexington began to increase speed in an attempt to evade troopers. Burnett was pursued at speeds in excess of 115 miles per hour. The pursuit continued into Clark County when Mr. Burnett was stopped by a tire deflation device, according to the release.
The release goes on to state that Burnett exited the vehicle while traveling at approximately 90 miles per hour. He fled into a field where units from multiple agencies were able to take him into custody. Burnett was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released with minor injuries.
Burnett was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding, 26 mph or over, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, failure to wear a seat belt, improper passing, possession of marijuana or drug paraphernalia, buy/possess, possession of alcoholic beverage by a minor, possession of a handgun by a minor and warrant service from Fayette County.
He is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center in Mt. Sterling. Additional charges are pending in both Montgomery and Clark Counties. The incident remains under investigation.
