Innovative Automated Optical Inspection System Eliminates Product Defects and Ensures Customer Satisfaction
SALEM, N.H., Oct. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterasys Networks was honored with a Gold Stevie® Award for Product Development Team of the Year at the 11th Annual American Business Awards (ABAs) ceremony held on Monday, Sept. 16. The latest honor brings Enterasys' total number of Stevie Awards to four in 2013, adding to three from February for the company's excellence in sales and customer service.
Human manual visual inspection of electronics products can be timely and costly. Knowing the toll it could take on providing a positive customer experience, Enterasys decided to step out of the box to develop the Mechanical Assembly Optical Inspection (MAOI) system. Custom designed and tailored to inspect Enterasys' products, MAOI performs real-time analysis to identify assembly mistakes and component damage of manufactured products at the end of the assembly process before the product is packaged.
"At its core, Enterasys is devoted to delivering customers the best possible experience and part of that is ensuring they receive the highest quality products without defects," said Brad Martin, vice president, Quality and Engineering Operations, Enterasys. "Nothing is more important than our customers, and our innovative approach to the manufacturing inspection process is a testament to that. This award is truly an honor and serves as motivation for us to continue delivering a gold experience to customers."
As a result of developing MAOI, Enterasys has dramatically increased customer satisfaction and reduced inspection time and return rates, all of which have led to a considerable cost and time savings for the company.
"So many remarkable stories of success and innovation were told in the nominations submitted to this year's American Business Awards," said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards. "We congratulate all of this year's Stevie Award winners, and thank them for the inspiration provided by their achievements."
The Stevie Awards for Technology and New Products are awarded annually and this year over 3,200 entries were submitted. Details about The American Business Awards and the lists of Stevie Award winners who were announced on September 16 are available at www.StevieAwards.com/ABA.
