Christmas charity deadlines approaching soon in Charleston, WV

CHARLESTON, WV -

Halloween hasn't even arrived, but it is already time to start thinking about Christmas in Charleston, WV.

The United Way's Christmas Bureau has already received hundreds of requests for help this holiday season.  Deadlines for major Christmas charities are coming up as early as November 7.

The Christmas Bureau at the Central West Virginia location of the United Way is a hub for more than 30 charities in the area. The bureau helps to make certain everyone in Kanawha, Boone and Putnam counties gets the help they need. But organizers say parents must get started on the process now.

"This helps the volunteers go out and get the proper toys for the kids so they have a good Christmas," said Barbara Mallory with the Christmas Bureau. "It seems like early deadlines but it's not considering everything that needs to be done."

If you need help for your child this Christmas and you live in Kanawha, Boone or Putnam counties call 304-414-4405 to get sign up information.
