The Boyd County Public Library is inviting area teens to participate in a writing contest during Teen Read Week from Oct. 13-19.

To enter the contest, teens are asked to rewrite the ending of their favorite book or movie using a science fiction or fantasy twist.  Teens can also use their least favorite book or movie.  Entries should be no more than 1,000 words and must include their name, contact information and the name of the book or movie being rewritten.

Entries can be dropped off at any branch or emailed to knunley@thebookplace.org no later than Oct. 19.

The winner will be selected by independent judges and will receive their book of choice, up to $25 in value.

"Seek the Unknown" is part of the library's Teen Read Week and runs from Oct. 13-19.  The library will also host a program called Magic Tricks and Tips for Teens on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. at the main branch.

Teen Read Week is sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association.
