CHARLESTON, WV -

A collaboration of industries, local governments and state and federal resources are working for a better environment and economy. Partners took part in the E-3 Signing Ceremony on Tuesday at the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection headquarters in Charleston.

E-3 stands for Economy, Energy and Environment. The goal is investing in local communities, addressing energy and sustainability challenges, providing technical training and conducting environmental assessments. "We have already told them this is what you need to do, here are the savings, here is what that return on investment is going to look like," said Greg Adofson, a sustainability officer with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.

Since 2010, E-3 West Virginia has helped fund 56 industrial facility assessments statewide and 22 local government assessments. Officials have said the work has resulted in a potential savings of more than $3 million.
