In this month's finding a family segment, we meet Cody, 16.

He has a lot of interests, from TV to model trains, but it's the perfect time of year for one of Cody's passions: ghost hunting.

Cody's imagination, creativity, and energy are easiest to spot during a tour of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum.

Cody arrives ready for a ghost hunt, with his own Ghostbuster-style uniform and proton pack, which he made himself.

Cody said he started learning about ghosts several years ago.

"Ever since I saw a ghost when I was little it got my interest," he said.

He wasn't scared back then, and he is still fearless walking through the old asylum.

Cody checks every closet and cranny for signs of spirits, even poking his head into an abandoned building to politely ask if any ghosts can hear him.

Cody is also creative. He made his proton pack from whatever random items he could find. He hopes to find a family that will encourage his skills.

"I'm a hands-on kid," Cody said. "I like to build."

Cody made everyone on the tour feel like a part of his team in the ghost hunt, even offering to shield me from any ghosts.

"He's easy to talk to and very respectful," his case worker, Jessica Huff, said.

That respect extends to the ghosts as well.

"If you're here, could you knock on a door for us or open a door for us?" asked Bethany Cutright, who is leading our tour.

"I would like that, please," Cody adds.

What he'd really like is to become part of a family.

"As long as it's an okay family, any family will do," Cody said.

"Cody is amazing to be around," Huff said. "He's always so full of energy and coming up with new and different stuff to do. And his interests are so varied… He's just a great kid."

We didn't spot any ghosts on our tour of the asylum, but Cody will keep looking.

Hopefully he won't have to search for a family much longer.
