CHARLESTON, WV -

Leading 48-45 with three seconds remaining Marshall gave up a nine yard touchdown pass to Middle Tennessee State University as time expired to fall 51-49.

The loss dropped the Thundering Herd to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in Conference USA.

The game was tied 21-21 at halftime. Entering the fourth quarter, the Herd trailed 38-35. They were down as many as ten twice in the fourth quarter. After a Kevin Grooms rushing touchdown cut the MTSU lead to three at 45-42, the Herd then took the lead with 2:29 remaining. 

The Blue Raiders answered with a 79 yard drive as time expired to take down the Thundering Herd.

Marshall returns home Saturday, November 2 as they take on Southern Mississippi.
