    Alpha Natural Resources announced July 31 that 11 affiliated coal mines and other facilities in West Virginia could be idled by mid-October, potentially causing 1,100 to be laid off.

CHARLESTON, WV -

A threat, that later turned out to be a fake, forced a Charleston, WV school into lock-down. 

The principal of Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary School tells 13 News the school received information that a person made a threat just before 10 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013. 

School administrators immediately placed the school on lock-down as a precaution and police were on scene to investigate within minutes.

The incident lasted about 1 hour. 

After an investigation, police say the threat was false and no charges will be filed.
