Veterans Day freebies, discounts and offers 2013

Many restaurants and other businesses are offering discounts and deals to veterans on Veterans Day.  We have gathered a list of special offers below.

  • Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Ashland invites veterans and active members of the United States military to enjoy a FREE lunch on Monday, November 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Every Texas Roadhouse location across the country will participate in the free lunch event to show our appreciation for the men and women of our armed forces, and honor them for serving our country. Guests must show proof of service such as military or VA card, or discharge papers. Free meal for military personnel only; free meal offer does not include spouses or other family members.
  • Applebee's is offering veterans and active-duty military members a free entree on November 11 (dine-in only). Proof of service required. 
  • Golden Corral will hold its annual free military appreciation dinner Nov. 11 from 4-9 p.m. to anyone who has ever served in the military (no ID required). The dinner is open to friends and family of military members, but they have to pay regular prices. 
  • Chili's is offering a free entree (from a limited menu) to veterans and active-duty military Nov. 11. Proof of military service required. 
  • T.G.I. Friday's will offer veterans and military personnel (with proof of service) a free lunch on Nov. 11 at participating locations. 
  • Bob Evans Farms salutes service to country with a hearty plate of hotcakes. The company announced that veterans and active military personnel will receive free all-you-can-eat hotcakes at its restaurants on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11. All these honored servicemen and women need do is show a valid military ID.
  • Shoney's offer of a free All-American Burger to veterans and active duty military service members is available on Monday, November 11, 2013 at participating restaurants while supplies last. There is a limit of one per day per military service member and the offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offers. Shoney's military guests will need to provide proof of military service. Offer is valid for Dine-in only and beverage, tax and gratuity are not included.
  • Red Lobster is offering veterans and active military a free appetizer Nov. 11-14. 
  • Outback Steakhouse will give veterans and active military (ID required) a free Bloomin' Onion and beverage on Nov. 11. Military personnel with a valid ID will also receive 10% off their meals Nov. 12-14. 
  • LongHorn Steakhouse is offering service members a free Texas Tonion appetizer and non-alcoholic beverage Nov. 11-14. 
  • Olive Garden is giving veterans and service members a free entree from a special menu on Nov. 11. Family members will receive a 10% discount on their meal. 
  • Krispy Kreme will give a free doughnut and coffee to veterans and active military in uniform or with ID on Nov. 11. 
  • Little Caesars Pizza will be giving a free order of Crazy Bread to veterans and active duty military who ID on Nov. 11. 
  • Max & Erma's will be honoring veterans and active military personnel by giving out a free Best Cheeseburger in America combo. Dine-in only, must show ID. Participating restaurants only. 
  • West Virginia University will be honoring the sacrifice of veterans with the annual Veterans Appreciation Breakfast on Nov. 11 at 8-9:30 a.m. in The Erickson Alumni Center.
  • Opossum Creek Retreat is giving 2 free nights in any of their cabins to veterans during Veterans Day weekend. The offer is available to any veteran for Nov. 8 and 9 or Nov. 10 and 11 until the cabins are all booked. To take advantage of the offer or for more information, veterans can contact OCR at (888) 488-4836 or online at If the weekend is full this year, veterans can book for next year with the deal as well, or use the 10 percent discount OCR offers to veterans year-round.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that it will waive day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families at the more than 2,400 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide on Veterans Day,November 11. The fee waiver requires only verbal confirmation of service. The waiver covers fees for boat launch ramps and swimming beaches. The waiver does not apply to camping and camping-related services, or fees for specialized facilities such as group picnic shelters. USACE does not charge an entrance fee to access its parks. Other agencies that manage recreation areas on USACE lands are encouraged, but not required, to offer the waiver in the areas that they manage.
