CINCINNATI (AP) - About 60 percent of Ohio school issues on this week's ballots have been approved.

The Ohio School Boards Association says unofficial results indicate 116 of 192 issues passed Tuesday. The overall approval rate is higher than last year's 55 percent.

Of school issues on ballots for the first time, only 36 percent passed. That's a rate of rejection for first-time issues similar to the November 2012 election.

Voters in Columbus on Tuesday soundly rejected a proposed tax hike for city schools. Meanwhile, voters in a large suburban district in northern Cincinnati apparently finally approved a school levy.
