CHARLESTON, WV -

A special character shared rhymes for a good time Wednesday in Charleston. The Cat in the Hat, a special guest from PBS, paid a visit to the Clay Center classrooms.

Children 5 years and younger got to meet the popular Dr. Seuss character during the Center's Wee Wednesday weekly story time. "We think it's important to do things like this to just encourage reading and for kids to see that reading is fun," said Lewis Ferguson of Charleston. "It can take you lots of different places when you are involved in a story and you can even meet someone unusual like the Cat."

You can get more information about the Wee Wednesday program at the Clay Center web site. The program is free for museum members or just $6 children.

The Clay Center's mission, according to its web site, is to inspire creativity, learning and wonder through experiences in the Arts and Sciences for all people of West Virginia and the region.
