SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV -

For many service members, they never received any thanks or support for their military service. On Wednesday, Montrose Elementary, along with a group called Quilts of Valor, treated veterans with a spaghetti lunch. Students paired up veterans for the special lunch.

The students also performed during the event. "It's nice, honoring guys like me and the rest of the guys. I just wish a lot of my fallen comrades could be here to see this the way the young kids performed. They done a good job," said David Saunders, an Army veteran.

In addition to the luncheon and performance, students the veterans received a Quilt of Valor. The presentation is designed to show military personnel that their service didn't go unnoticed. David Saunders from Nitro, WV, and Robert Wilkinson from Summersville, WV, received the quilts.

The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover all combat service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.
