Stormtracker 13 meteorologists tracking possible slick commute Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

The Stormtracker 13 meteorologists continue to track the possibility of a slick commute on Tuesday morning.

"Weather models are coming much more into focus and we are seeing a cold front Monday night with rain changing into snow in our region late Monday night into Tuesday morning," said chief meteorologist Spencer Adkins.

"Models picked up on this several days ago but there was far too much disagreement among the data sets and crazy numbers coming out to just accept right off the bat," said Adkins. "Some times it does happen, but experience tells you not to just jump at the first set of numbers especially when it looks too extreme."

Current versions of Stormtracker 13 Predictor indicate anywhere from a dusting to two inches of wet snow on higher hill tops by mid-day Tuesday.

"This is still a very early call, but more models have similar outputs so that raises forecast confidence. But I will say it only takes an inch of snow, and sometimes not even that, to really make for a slippery commute around here so we'll keep watching closely and advise of forecast changes," said Adkins.
