HUNTINGTON, WV -

When the Thundering Herd play Tulsa Thursday night, the usual "M" on the left side of the helmet will be replaced with the number 75.

This is to honor the 1970 Marshall University football team that lost 75 lives in a plane crash. This will be the first time since that November 14, 1970 year that Marshall will play a road game.

In a press release, Marshall's Athletic Director Mike Hamrick said, "It's the right thing to do. The nation is certainly familiar with our Marshall story, the tragic crash, the loss of life. It's a large part of our fabric."

Marshall has played on November 14 four times prior to this year.
