A Clendenin, WV woman faces charges after police found drug paraphernalia along with her boyfriend's dead body in a home on Maywood Avenue.

Authorities say they found Chad Elmore's body in a back bedroom on November 8th with several syringes and needles near his body. Police found additional drug paraphernalia on the mattress of an infant's bed and one underneath the mattress.

Elmore's girlfriend, Melissa May Putillion, 22, of Clendenin, WV told police she had injected heroin earlier in the day, taken two Roxiocodone pills, and smoked marijuana in the evening. She was charged with child neglect with risk of injury. Child Protective Services was contacted, and the infant was removed and placed into state custody.

"I don't understand why they do it in the first place. But when they have young children, why would you do that?" said Clendenin Police Chief David Brinckman.

Putillion told officers that Elmore had been purchasing heroin from an individual in Pinch. Officials say that when they find the individual, they intend on charging him or her with first degree murder.

Putillion says she will do anything to get her child back, including taking parenting classes and going to rehab.

"He's all I got, he's my world, and if I lose him, I don't know," she said.
