ELKVIEW, WV -
UPDATE:

One person is dead and a teenager was severely injured after a single-vehicle rollover accident in Kanawha County, WV, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies said James Hoover, of Big Chimney, was traveling north on I-79 near the Big Chimney exit when he lost control of his vehicle on the bridge crossing Little Sandy Creek, hit a concrete wall and flipped over the barrier.  The accident happened about 7:45 a.m.

Hoover wasn't wearing his seatbelt, authorities said.  He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.  The passenger, a 13-year-old boy, had to be cut out of the vehicle.  He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but his condition is stable, according to a release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said the driver may have hit a patch of ice on the bridge.  The DOH has received numerous complaints about icy road conditions, despite the dry weather today.

"A lot of people have the misconception if it's dry or it's not snowing, it's not slick. When you have the cold air passing under the bridges and roadways, with the frost on top of that, it can cause some slick conditions," said Shane Hudnall, safety officer for the DOH
