Charges Dropped Against McMechen Man Accused of Threatening President
Charges have been dropped against a Marshall County man accused of sending threatening letters to President Barack Obama.
Ryan Kirker, 20 of McMechen, has been released after a forensic handwriting analysis by the Secret Service indicated he did not write letters threatening to kill the president and his family. Another analysis from a private laboratory obtained by Kirker's attorneys also confirmed that he did not write the letters.
However, the charges against Kirker were dismissed without prejudice, meaning they could be re-filed at a later date.
Originally indicted in April of this year, Kirker was facing up to five years in prison and a fine of $250,000. He was accused of sending a profanity-filled threatening letter to President Obama which allegedly closed with the phrase "KKK forever."
