CHARLESTON, WV -

UPDATE:

A man has been arrested in a shooting in Charleston, WV.

According to police, Dana Stevenson, 21, from Buffalo, NY, was arrested and is being charged with malicious wounding and 1st degree robbery.

According to police, the shooting occurred around 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, on Berkeley Street. The victim ran through an alley and into a house in the 300 block of Monongalia Street.

Police say the victim told police that Stevenson had his face partly covered; he told neighbors he was wearing some sort of blue mask over his face, and wanted his necklace and watch, in which he shot the victim in the leg, just below the knee.

Neighbors say they heard 7 to 8 shots; one neighbor described it as sounding like cannons, and then saw the victim running towards them. He was not wearing a watch or necklace when he was being helped by neighbors.

Police say Stevenson took off, which resulted in a foot pursuit. Two detectives chased him approximately ten blocks. He was armed when they got him.

Stevenson has no record or history with the Charleston Police Department.

The victim was taken to CAMC General with minor injuries.

Police also say that along with the charges related to the shooting, Stevenson is also being charged with three wanton endangerments in a shooting incident that occurred Saturday, Nov. 9, in the area of Park Avenue near Save-A-Lot.

Police say that during this incident, Stevenson fired 8 to 9 shots into a car that two people were in. The car drove away and no one was injured.  Police say this incident started as an argument.

After looking at surveillance video, police identified the suspect as being Stevenson in both incidents.
