KY convicted felon arrested for carrying a handgun

A Carter County Sheriff's Office Reserve Deputy is in jail after police received a report stating he was a convicted felon and in possession of a firearm.

According to a news release issued by the Kentucky State Police, Tracy J. Dickerson, 61, of Grayson, KY, was arrested Thursday, Nov. 14, for being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

The release says that on Wednesday, Nov.13, the Kentucky State Police in Ashland began an investigation into allegations that Dickerson was in possession of a firearm while performing his duties as a reserve deputy.  Police found evidence that substantiated the allegations.

Police determined that Dickerson had been with the Carter County Sheriff's Office for a year and a half and has been suspended.

Dickerson is being lodged in the Carter County Detention Center.
