CHARLESTON, WV -

A man has been sentenced in a case from Sept., 2012, in which he fired a weapon at a house in Parkersburg, WV.

According to a news release issued by U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin, Shaun Michael Linko, 26, was sentenced to six and a half years in prison on Thursday, Nov. 14, for firing on a house with an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle.

The release says that on Sept. 19, 2012, police responded to a report of shots fired at a house in the area of 1122 Lynn Street in Parkersburg.  When police arrived, officers with the Parkersburg Police Department found a large quantity of spent shell casings from a semi-automatic rifle in the street, along with apparent bullet holes in the exterior of the house.

According to the release, Wood County, WV deputy sheriffs soon saw a GMC Jimmy SUV parked at the 7th Street Park and Ride, located close to Lynn Street. As deputies approached the vehicle, they observed an ammunition box lying on the ground beside the driver's side door of the vehicle. Police officers then ordered the driver, Linko, and a female passenger, to exit the vehicle.

The release says that Linko, who was arrested, told police that he shot at the house using an AK-47.  Police recovered the rifle and loose ammunition from Linko's vehicle.

Linko, who previously pleaded guilty in April, 2013, of being a felon in possession of a firearm, was previously convicted in March, 2010 of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance in the Circuit Court of Wood County, WV.
