Ruth Lemmon, president of the West Virginia Auto and Truck Dealers Association, recently was awarded the Adjutant General's Coin.

The award came in recognition for her support of the West Virginia Army National Guard's Gold Star and Yellow Ribbon charity events.

James A. Hoyer, Major General of the West Virginia Army National Guard, presented the coin.

"It's a tremendous honor," Lemmon said. "Our military gives up so much, their families, their jobs, everything — to be in the military.

"My first involvement came with a program that provided stuffed bears that came with a recording (inside) for the deployed, or for the children of the one deployed. It's very nice."

Being involved with the Gold Star and Yellow Ribbon events is very gratifying, Lemmon said, but she was quick to share the praise.

"Our dealers have been great," she said. "I'm just a facilitator. They write the checks."
