HUNTINGTON, WV -

A man accused of killing a former Marshall University football player whose conviction was overturned now has a new trial date.

Judge Alfred Ferguson says 32-year-old Jerel Garner will get a new trial March 25, 2014. Garner is accused of killing former MU football player Donte Newsome in 2008. Court officials say Ferguson set Garner's bond at $20,000 and home confinement pending posting.

The West Virginia State Supreme Court overturned Garner's 2010 conviction in April 2011, according to court documents.
