Public meeting planned to talk about walking bridge in Dunbar, WV

DUNBAR, WV -

The West Virginia Division of Highways wants public input about a plan that could create a sidewalk on the Dunbar Toll Bridge in Kanawha County. The DOH is hosting an informational meeting on Monday, Dec. 2, at Bridgeview Elementary School.

The Dunbar toll Bridge currently has a sidewalk that ends at the staircase on the South Charleston side and ends between travel lanes on the Dunbar side. Neither end has a curb ramp; which means it is not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The goal is to generate ideas that would provide ADA compliant pedestrian access across the bridge.

The meeting is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The public is invited to ask questions and give written comments on the project. A handout with project details will be available at the meeting and on the WVDOH web site.
