Consol Energy has donated $20,000 to the Fairmont General Hospital Foundation to help fund the purchase of a navigational bronchoscopy system.

The equipment, which has already been delivered, detects tumors of the lung and helps diagnose lung cancer. The system produces real time 3-D images and enables physicians to take lung biopsies.

The Foundation Board of Directors serves on a voluntary basis to help provide the necessary financial resources so the hospital can continue to fulfill its mission of providing quality care and respond to changing healthcare needs in our growing community.

To date, they've raised $108,000 for the project, and expect to meet their goal by the end of the week.
