Power restored for most in Kanawha County, WV

CHARLESTON, WV -

UPDATE: A little more than 310 customers are without power this morning in Kanawha County according to the power outage information from AEP.  Repairs are underway and are expected to be complete by late morning Friday.

 

Thousands are without power in Kanawha County, WV.

According to dispatchers, a tractor trailer knocked down two power poles in the area of MacCorkle Avenue southeast, just east of Fields Creek Road, in Chesapeake at 8:44 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19., causing multiple lines and transformers to be on the roadway.

Both lanes of MacCorkle Avenue southeast is shut down until further notice.

According to AEP, more than 1,000 people are without power, and that power will not be restored until at least 8:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20.

Drivers are being asked to avoid this area until it is cleared.
