    For more than 10 years, College Summit West Virginia has been helping make higher education more attainable for 37,000 students who have participated in the program.

Pierpont Community & Technical College is seeking comments from the public about the College in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency. The College will host a visit March 3-5, 2014, with a team representing the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.

The Commission, prior to August 2003, had included the College in the accreditation of Fairmont State University. The institutions remerged in July 2006 with the name change to Pierpont. The College was accredited again as a separate institution in April 2008. The team will review the institution's ongoing ability to meet the Commission's Criteria for Accreditation.

The public is invited to submit comments regarding the college to: Third Party Comment on Pierpont Community & Technical College, The Higher Learning Commission, 230 South LaSalle St., Suite 7-500, Chicago, IL 60604-1411.

The public also may submit comments on the Commission's Web site at www.ncahlc.org.

Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs. Comments must be in writing. All comments must be received by Feb. 3, 2014

Pierpont prepares students in two years or less for practical hands-on careers, such as culinary arts, physical therapist assistant, graphic arts or aviation maintenance. Pierpont provides associate and certificate of applied science degrees, and offers a variety of advanced skill set and skill set certificates, occupational development (in partnership with employers and trade unions), associate degrees and non-credit training. Studies at Pierpont can also prepare students to continue for 4-year or graduate degree programs.

Pierpont serves a thirteen county region in North Central West Virginia, including Barbour, Braxton, Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Lewis, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, Randolph, Taylor and Upshur counties.
