State grants are available for projects that support wildlife research, conservation or education projects.

The Division of Natural Resources is accepting applications for these grants through Jan. 10.

The DNR says in a news release that grants will be awarded for research and for projects that benefit nongame wildlife or botanical resources.

Wildlife Resources Section chief Curtis Taylor says the projects are designed to enhance knowledge and protection of West Virginia's nongame wildlife, native plants and habitats.

Eligible applicants could include people affiliated with state or private colleges or universities, school systems, industry, profit or nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
