Victim's name released in Kanawha County, WV bar shooting

The name of a man shot during an altercation at a Cross Lanes bar has been released.

Carlo Gray, 22, was shot in the parking lot of Appetizers Bar and Grill during the fight.  Initial reports said more than 50 people were involved in the fight.  Police received the call about fighting inside and outside the bar at about 2:31 a.m.

According to a press release from Kanawha County Sheriff's Dept., while officers were responding to the scene shots were fired outside of the bar.  When police arrived on the scene, people were leaving the area.

Around the time police arrived on the scene, a Nitro police officer pulled over the van Gray was a passenger in on I-64.  According to the press release, police believe more than one gun was fired.

Gray was taken to the hospital after the incident.  His condition isn't known.

Due to the large amount of people who fled the scene, police are asking anyone with information to call 304-357-0169.



Kanawha County emergency dispatchers say law enforcement are responding to Appetizers Bar and Grill in Cross Lanes, WV. They received reports of more than 50 people fighting at the bar and that shots were fired.

At least one person has been wounded and was being taken to the hospital in a car when police pulled the vehicle over on I-64 in Nitro.  Police processed the van which was hit by two bullets.

It is unclear if other people were injured in the incident.

Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies and state troopers have responded to the bar on Goff Mountain Road and are working to process the scene.
