    Alpha Natural Resources announced July 31 that 11 affiliated coal mines and other facilities in West Virginia could be idled by mid-October, potentially causing 1,100 to be laid off.

CHILLICOTHE, OH -

One person is in the hospital after a vehicle accident in Chillicothe, OH.

According to a news release issued by the Chillicothe Police Department, Sgt. Tim Gay saw Larry Vest Sr. lose control of his vehicle in the area of N. Bridge St. at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 1.

The news release says Vest crossed all lanes of traffic, drove over a curb, and onto the lot of Certified, located at 825 N. Bridge St., and hit a gas pump.

According to the news release, Sgt. Gay removed Vest from his vehicle, finding him unresponsive due to a medical condition.

Vest was transported to the Adena Regional Medical Center.

No charges have been filed.

The crash remains under investigation by the Chillicothe Police Department.
