PIKE COUNTY, KY. -

One woman is dead after a vehicle accident in Pike County, KY.

According to a news release issued by the Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville, a vehicle accident was reported on US 119 in South Williamson at 7:14 a.m. Thursday, January 2.

The news release says that Lillian Raines, 50, of Chapmanville, WV, was traveling south on US 119 and hit a bridge.  Raines then lost control and hit the bridge again, crossing into the northbound lanes and hitting another vehicle, which was driven by Gregory Smith.

According to the news release, Raines was pronounced dead at the scene, while Smith was initially taken to South Williamson ARH, and was later taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital.  His injuries are not yet known.

The crash is under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
