Extremely dangerous road conditions reported throughout the tri-state

CHARLESTON, WV -

UPDATE:

Dispatchers say several reports have come in about black ice throughout all of Kanawha County, WV.

According to dispatchers, slick roads have been reported in Clendenin, specifically on Thorofare Road/Spencer Road, where a two vehicle accident with no injuries occurred at 9:57 p.m.

Dispatchers say there are still reports of minor accidents occurring on I-64 and Huntington in Cabell County, WV.  However, no injuries or road closures have been reported.

Slick or icy conditions have been reported throughout the WV counties of Logan, Mason, and Mingo.

Drivers throughout the tri-state are being asked to avoid being on the roadways at all costs.

 

UPDATE:

According to dispatchers, Wealthy Acres Road/Cabin Creek Road in Kanawha County, WV is shut down due to a six vehicle accident, involving a tractor trailer jackknifing, and another vehicle hitting the tractor trailer.  This occurred at 8:56 p.m. Thursday.  No injuries were reported in this accident.

Also in Kanawha County, WV, Doc Bailey Road in Cross Lanes is shut down.  Dispatchers say the road is a sheet of ice, and at least two to three vehicles were reported to be in ditches.  No injuries were reported.

Shady Side Road, also in Kanawha County, WV is shut down due to a single vehicle accident, with no injuries.

According to dispatchers, there was a multiple vehicle pileup on Horse Pen Mountain in Gilbert, in Mingo County, WV.  This report came in at 9:30 p.m.  It was not an accident, but vehicles could not move.  Also in Mingo County, two vehicle accidents with no injuries were reported on Buffalo Mountain.  Crews are salting the roads.

Dispatchers also say that slick or icy conditions are reported throughout all of Boyd County, KY.

Drivers are being asked to avoid driving on the roads at all costs.

Due to weather, there have been several reports of slick or icy road conditions and vehicle accidents throughout the tri-state.

According to dispatchers, there have been reports of slick or icy conditions throughout Cabell County, WV, specifically on I-64, Overby Road, and Harvey Road.  Also in Cabell County, there was a multiple car pileup, with no injuries, reported on 20th Street Hill, in Huntington at 7:40 p.m. that caused the road to be shut down until crews could salt the roadway.  It has since reopened.

Drivers are being asked to avoid driving on 20th Street and Norway Avenue, also in Huntington, which reported major slick or icy road conditions.

Also in WV, Jackson County, specifically in the area of I-77 north and southbound at the Silverton exit in Ravenswood, reported slick or icy road conditions.

Dispatchers say there are reports of slick or icy road conditions throughout Kanawha County, WV, specifically in the areas of 4695 Washington Street West and the 4600 block of Big Tyler Rd., both in Cross Lanes, as well as the I-64 eastbound exit ramp in South Charleston that reported black ice.  

Also in WV, Mason, Nicholas, and Wayne County, WV, which reports that Route 75, as well as Spring Valley around the Spring Valley Bridge, is shut down., have reported slick or icy conditions.

According to dispatchers, Route 34 in Lincoln County, WV reported slick conditions, as well as in the OH counties of Gallia, Lawrence, and Scioto. In Lawrence County, OH, there have been reports of slick or icy conditions in Ironton, as well as the Ironton-Russell Bridge, on State Route 141, as well as under a few overpasses on State Route 52 towards Wal-Mart in South Point.

Dispatchers also say there is slick or icy conditions reported in the KY counties of Boyd and Greenup. Dispatchers say that in Boyd County, KY, the slick or icy conditions are located in the areas of State Route 5, I-64, and 13th Street in Ashland.

According to dispatchers, there have been several wrecks throughout the tri-state. All of which have been reported to be minor accidents with either no or minor injuries.

Drivers are being asked to stay off the roads at all costs.
