    On Tuesday, August 26, West Virginia University Tech Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences and West Virginia University College of Business and Economics are set to sign an agreement establishing 4+1 MBA Pathway.

On Jan. 19 and 20, Wheeling Jesuit University will host the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day community celebration. 

Starting at 1 p.m. Jan. 19, a public march commemorating the original Civil Rights Marches led by King in the 1960's will depart from Temple Shalom on Bethany Pike and proceed onto National Road and then to Washington Avenue, ending at the Chapel of Mary and Joseph at Wheeling Jesuit University.

Immediately after the short chapel service, a luncheon will be held in Wheeling Jesuit's Benedum Room. The cost of lunch is $3.

Sunday's events will wrap up with a 4 p.m. church service at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, located at 141 Kruger St., Wheeling. The interfaith service is open to all denominations.


Monday, Jan. 20, begins with a 9 a.m. breakfast for school-age children, held in the Laughlin Memorial Chapel, located at 129 1/2 -18th St. in Wheeling. Wheeling Jesuit will financially support the Laughlin Chapel staff that will be cooking breakfast and lunch this year. The MLK breakfast will be followed by children's educational programs and will finish with a noontime luncheon.

"This is our second year doing this breakfast at the Chapel and we enjoy celebrating the legacy of Dr. King with area children and educating them by having fun too," said Rev. Marci Allen, Executive Director of Laughlin Chapel.

At 2 p.m., in the WJU Troy Theater, the annual YWCA MLK essay contest ceremony will take place. Students from across Ohio County who were local winners in this year's annual YWCA statewide MLK essay contest will present their written reflections. The program also will include performances of song and dance by youth groups from the area. The Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. awards will be presented to individuals who have made important or significant contributions to the community.

All activities are open to the public.
