Mother found dead of apparent overdose inside home; children with her in St. Albans, WV

ST. ALBANS, WV -

A mother was found dead in her home around 2 p.m. Monday in St. Albans, WV.

Kanawha County Deputies say they believe Linda Thorton, 26,  died of an apparent heroin and Xanax overdose.

According to deputies they were dispatched to 138 Miracle Drive after Thornton was found by neighbors. Medics were first called to the scene for an apparent cardiac arrest.

A 5 year old, 5 month old, and 3 year old were also found inside the home.

Deputies add that drug paraphernalia was found throughout the home, including razor blades and pull residue.

The children are staying with family members, according to authorities.Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office and Child Protective Services are investigating.

An autopsy is being performed on Thorton's body. But she was declared dead at the scene.
