UPDATE: Suspect released in Meigs County, OH shooting case

UPDATE:

According to a news release issued by the Meigs County Sheriff's Office, 69-year-old Robert Burns was released from jail Wednesday evening.

No charges are being filed.

According to Sheriff Keith Wood, the case will be presented to a grand jury for their consideration.

William E. Cleveland, Burns' step-son who was shot, is listed in stable condition at St. Mary's Medical Center.

 

UPDATE:

According to a news release issued by the Meigs County Sheriff's Office, 69-year-old Robert Burns is the suspect in a Wednesday morning shooting that occurred on Briar Ridge Road at 9:34 a.m. in Langsville, OH. The news release says Burns shot his step-son, William E. Cleveland, 49, in the abdomen.

According to the news release, Cleveland was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center, and was taken into surgery.  His condition is not yet known.

Witnesses report that the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute between Burns and Cleveland.

The news release says police recovered a small caliber pistol, along with other evidence, at the scene.

Burns is in police custody for questioning.

One person is in the hospital and another in custody after a shooting Wednesday morning in Meigs County. 

Sheriff Keith Wood tells us one person was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington after being shot at approximately 9:24 a.m. on Briar Ridge Road in Salem Township. Deputies are on the scene collecting evidence. The sheriff says the shooter is in custody.
