UPDATE: Man sentenced for robbing two businesses in OH

PORTSMOUTH, OH -

UPDATE:

According to the office of the Scioto County Prosecutor, Marlin R. Yates II was sentenced Tuesday afternoon of March 25 in front of Judge William T. Marshall of the Scioto County Court of Common Pleas.

Yates plead guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery, which are felonies in the first degree.

Yates was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Yates told the court that when he robbed both the Sherwin Williams Paint Store in Portsmouth, OH of $326.00, along with the 1st Stop Market in Sciotoville, OH of $151.00, that he was desperate because he was addicted to heroin.  

Yates also said that he wants to use his prison time to get some college credits, and that when he gets out of prison, he wants to help people who are addicted to heroin.

A man is in jail for robbing two businesses in OH.

According to a news release issued by the Portsmouth Police Department, Marlin R. Yates II, also known as Randall Yates II, was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 15, and was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery.

Yates robbed the Sherwin Williams Paint Store in Portsmouth, OH on Saturday, Jan. 11, and the 1st Stop Market in Sciotoville, OH on Sunday, Jan. 12.

Yates is being held in the Greenup County Detention Center in KY on the charge of being a fugitive from Scioto County, OH.
