A Detroit man has admitted to using a cell phone to facilitate a heroin deal, U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin says.

Kermit Ware, 25, is scheduled to be sentenced April 14. He entered a guilty plea Jan. 16 in U.S. District Court in Charleston.

Ware is being prosecuted as part of the Charleston area's Drug Market Intervention initiative. Ware was designated a member of the DMI A-list, which comprises the most serious offenders identified in the initiative. The Kanawha Bureau of Investigation and the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Hanks is in charge of the prosecution.
