The West Virginia Senate passed three and introduced 17 bills during its regular floor session Jan. 22.

Senate Bills 3, 29 and 346 were passed and now will be introduced in the House for consideration.

SB3 would allow a person, upon his or her death, to transfer real property directly to a beneficiary without probate. SB29 would clarify the requirements an officer needs to meet when making a routine traffic stop to search a vehicle.

SB346 would make a supplementary appropriation of Lottery Net Profits to the Division of Natural Resources and the Bureau of Senior Services.

The Senate also introduced bills 401-417 and declared Jan. 22 as West Virginia Kids at Risk Day.

The West Virginia Childcare Association was individually recognized by Sen. Rocky Fitzsimmons, D-Ohio, who sponsored Senate Resolution 8, making the observation official.

"These individuals have dedicated their time to make life better for West Virginia's children," he said.

The association was unable to be at the Legislature because of the inclement weather, but Fitzsimmons said its members would be invited back to be recognized in the near future.

The Senate will reconvene at 11 a.m. Jan. 23, with the Committee on Finance meeting at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 23.
