Several people had to be evacuated from their homes after a sprinkler head busted at a senior citizen apartment complex in Nitro, WV.

It happened at Village On Park, at 1600 Park Avenue at around 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25.

According to the Nitro Fire Department, who responded to the scene, a sprinkler head inside an apartment on the 3rd floor of the complex froze and busted, flooding that apartment, and affecting 11 other apartments, and all the direct floors below the 3rd floor.

Eleven residents had to be evacuated.  The Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, along with KRT buses, were called to the scene to assist the residents who had to be evacuated.

The Nitro Fire Department says that the sprinkler system has been repaired, and that the estimated time for cleanup is not yet known.
