A Moundsville man was convicted in U.S. District Court in Wheeling of illegally distributing prescription painkillers.

U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II said Rocci Wade, 59, was part of a five-person conspiracy that distributed oxycodone in the Moundsville area between 2010 and 2013.

Wade, in custody pending sentencing, faces up to 40 years in prison after being convicted of distribution of oxycodone and conspiracy. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based on the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Randolph J. Bernard and Robert H. McWilliams, Jr. and was investigated by the Marshall County Drug Task Force which includes officers and agents from the Moundsville Police Department, the Marshall County Sheriff's Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
