Boyd County water issues prompt distribution centers

ASHLAND, KY -

For Jerry Ison of Flatwoods, Kentucky, it happened just after breakfast

"This morning about 10:00, 10:30 I guess," he said.

He was having issues with his water.

"I still got water pressure, it's just mighty low," he said.

That brought him and his wife out along with a lot of other people to Central Park in Ashland.
This was one of the city's distribution centers.

It's the latest move since water main breaks started on Monday night. The Central Park location will reopen Friday at 8 a.m.

Four other additional sites will stay open until 10 p.m. tonight and will be open Friday. Those water distribution centers will be at the Summit-Ironville Volunteer Fire Department, Cannonsburg Fire Department, Ashland Community and Technical College, in the back parking lot on the Oakview Road side, and the Boyd Catlettsburg Senior Center.

Each family is allowed three gallons per family. You must have an ID that shows you live in Boyd County (Ashland and Catlettsburg included).

For those that are disabled and unable to get to those sites, call Boyd County Emergency Management at 606-739-0127.

According to the City of Ashland, people can also fill empty containers with water at the Ashland Water Treatment Plant, at 4040 Winchester Avenue.
