Gov. Tomblin announces Small Business Administration economic injury disaster loans available

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced Thursday, Jan. 30, that the U.S. Small Business Administration granted his request for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan declaration.

According to a news release issued by the Office of the Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, the declaration makes low-interest loans available for small businesses and nonprofit organizations that have been affected by the chemical spill that occurred Jan. 9.

"I'm grateful for the SBA's quick response to my request for assistance to help the businesses and nonprofit organizations whose operations were disrupted as a result of West Virginia American Water Company's DO NOT USE order," Tomblin said.

The news release states that businesses and nonprofit organizations located in the counties of Boone, Kanawha, Putnam, Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Jackson, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Nicholas, Raleigh, Roane and Wyoming counties may apply for the U.S. SBA economic injury disaster loans., and  the loan amounts and terms are set by the SBA and are based on each applicant's financial condition.

According to the news release, applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application provided on the SBA's website:  The news release goes on to say that disaster loan information and application forms can also be obtained by calling the SBA's Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 (800-877-8339 for the deaf and hard-of-hearing).
