The University of Charleston School of Pharmacy will host free health screenings and a guest speaker as part of the American Heart Association's National Wear Red Day from 1-3:30 p.m. Feb. 7.

Events will take place on the first floor of the UC School of Pharmacy Building in Room 105, as well as in the PharmUC Patient Care Clinic.

The UC School of Pharmacy will provide free blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI) checks, as well as a My Life Check Health Assessment and a customized personal medication chart. Dr. Sarah Nease, a cardiovascular disease specialist at CAMC, will speak at 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and all attendees will receive a commemorative "Go Red" dress pin.

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease kills more women annually than all forms of cancer combined. National Go Red Day looks to educate women on ways to prevent heart disease, as well as recognizing symptoms.
