Huntington resident Alvester Thomas faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine after admitting to possession of heroin with intent to distribute.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said police found more than 1,000 grams of heroin in a safe inside a home Thomas shared with Kristen Michelle Graley at 3008 Rear Third Ave., Huntington.

Thomas admitted the heroin was his and told police he intended to sell it in the Huntington area, Goodwin said. In addition to the heroin, authorities seized 548 oxycodone pills, 73 oxymorphone pills and about three pounds of marijuana. They also found more heroin in the living room, a gun in the kitchen and about $17,230 in currency, Goodwin said.

Graley has pleaded guilty to related drug charges, he added.

Thomas is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
