A man and a woman who pleaded guilty to murder in February were sentenced in a Mercer County Courtroom on Tuesday, March 25.
Latasha Kanode and Steven McDonald shot and killed Sherry Matthews in July 2013. The murder happened at home on Thornton Ave. They also shot Edward Thomas. The charges against the two included First Degree Murder, Attempted Murder and First Degree Robbery.
Kanode and McDonald were sentenced to life in prison with mercy for killing Matthews. The two also will serve three to 15 years for trying to kill Thomas. For the robbery charge, Kanode received a 20 year sentence, while McDonald received 10 years. They both also were sentence to one to five years for conspiracy. The sentences will run at the same time.

Latasha Kanode and Steven McDonald pleaded guilty in Mercer County circuit court to first degree murder, first degree robbery, attempted murder and conspiracy. The Mercer County prosecutor's office says Kanode and McDonald fatally shot and robbed Sherry Matthews in July of last year.
The two reportedly also shot and wounded Edward Thomas. They will be sentenced in March.
