HUNTINGTON, WV -

Dr. Khalil T. Abulatifa has joined the Cabell Huntington Hospital hospitalist staff, which provides care to patients while they are in the hospital.

Abulatifa earned his medical degree from the University of Jordan in Amman and completed his residency training in internal medicine at Seton Hall University at Trinitas Hospital in New Jersey and at Jordan University Hospital in Amman.

The hospitalist program at Cabell Huntington Hospital is a hospital-based medicine program that features physicians who are called "hospitalists." Hospitalists are different from other physicians because they do not have a practice in an office; instead, they dedicate their careers to caring for hospitalized patients.

Cabell Huntington's hospitalists are available to care for patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week and spend most of their time admitting, managing, discharging and consulting for hospitalized patients. They help manage patients through the continuum of hospital care, often seeing patients in the ER and following them through their hospital stay.

Cabell Huntington Hospital is a 303-bed medical center established in Huntington in 1956. It's home to the Hoops Family Children's Hospital and the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center. The teaching hospital is affiliated with Marshall University Schools of Medicine and Nursing.
