West Liberty University will welcome higher education representatives from across the state for a live video conference from Mexico City Feb. 25.

The video conference will address recruiting opportunities south of the border and is part of the GlobalWV Networking and Training Event. 

The program will offer tips on recruiting international students in Mexico and will feature the experts:

 

  • Commercial Specialist with the U.S. Commercial Service Mexico Martha Sánchez, 
  • Acting Commercial Officer in Mexico City Diego Gattesco, who also is the senior international trade specialist and director of the U.S. Export Assistance Center in Wheeling, 
  • The video conference is being offered exclusively to representatives of colleges and universities in West Virginia and will take place from1:30-2:30 p.m.,
  • All higher education institutions in West Virginia are welcome to participate in this event, free of charge. 

 

 

Activities will include:

A networking lunch from 12:30-1:30 p.m. to share information about best practices for recruiting and retaining international students and sending students abroad and brainstorm ideas for campus internationalization. The lunch will be followed by the live video conference from Mexico City.

There also is a second live webinar scheduled from 3-4:30 p.m., entitled "Advising International Students on Education Abroad" conducted by NAFSA: Association of International Educators. 

After the webinars, Clark Egnor, director of the HEPC Office of International Programs, will moderate a discussion of the international education topics and answer questions. All activities will take place in the R. Emmett Boyle Conference Center, located in the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC).
