HUNTINGTON, WV -

Just how effective is a teacher if they're not able to keep up with today's changing technology tools?

The West Virginia Center for Professional Development held its first hands-on iPad training session at Holiday Inn on Route 60 in Huntington Thursday, Feb. 20. The intensive, one-day training session helped teachers better understand the functions of, and how to use, the iPad.

We asked Michelle Tharp with the WVCPD why this is important. "We have digital native learners in our students. They were born with the Internet, they were born with cell phones and mobile devices, so it's very important for us to give our educators the skills to feel comfortable," Tharp said.

More training sessions like this will be held in Martinsburg, Bridgeport, Charleston and Morgantown this spring.
